New Daredevil Show Coming to Disney+ Starring Charlie Cox

When the Marvel shows moved from Netflix to Disney+, fans wondered what that would mean for these series, set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe but seemingly worlds apart. Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist, which led to the Avengers-like The Defenders team up and even spawned a spin-off, The Punisher, were varying levels of successful. While some of the characters were a clear miss (most notably Finn Jones as Danny Rand/Iron Fist) some of the actors were much-loved in their roles. One of the much-loved series was Daredevil, the series that started this small screen interconnected mini-verse, starring Charlie Cox as the titular blind superhero, Daredevil, whose alter-ego, Matt Murdoch was a lawyer. Victor D’Onofrio, played Kingpin, the main villain of the series first season.

When Cox showed up as lawyer Matt Murdock in Spider-Man: No Way Home and and D’Onofrio reprised his role as Kingpin to be the major villain in the Hawkeye, the idea that the Netflix Marvel heroes (or at least some of them) might truly join the MCU suddenly became a possibility. Cox and D’Onofrio are also believed to be appearing in Echo, which is a spin-off of Hawkeye.

Sure enough, Disney+ has announced a new Daredevil series, which will reportedly be a continuation of the Netflix series. The series is expected some time in 2024. Matt Corman and Chris Ord, who created the USA series Covert Affairs, will write and executive produce the series.

This marks the first, and hopefully not the last, revival from the Netflix series. Rumors have been swirling that Krysten Ritter may appear as Jessica Jones in the upcoming She-Hulk, which premieres August 17 and stars Tatiana Maslany. With Maslany starring as Jennifer Walters, an attorney for superheroes, and Jones having a history working as a private investigator for an attorney, this would be a natural way to reintroduce the character. Those rumors, of course, were fueled by a recent photo of Ritter where she appeared to be dressed as Jessica, perhaps gearing up for the role.
