In 1926, she became the first woman to swim the 21-miles across the English Channel. Only five men had done so before. She once help five world records.
Eccleston played the ninth iteration of the Doctor when Doctor Who returned in 2005. He was on the series for one season before his controversial departure, which her eventually explained was because he “didn’t enjoy the environment and the culture.”
