New and Returning Series and Movies This Week: November 27 – December 3, 2022

Going into the final month of the year, we get the return of an old favorite:

Willow (November 30, Disney+) – Season 1

Taking place years after the film, Willow returns to lead a group of misfit heroes to rescue Princess Kit’s twin brother. The original Willow was created by George Lucas and did not have the success Star Wars had, but maybe this sequel series can find it a new audience.

Irreverent (November 30, Peacock) – Season 1

A failed American criminal hides out in a small Australian reef town, posing as the new reverend.

Gossip Girl (December 1, HBO Max) – Season 2

Get ready for our favorite Upper East Side students’ second semester. I’m not sure how well this series is stacking up to the original but it is safe to say that these students are overall meaner than those of the original series.

Firefly Lane (December 2, Netflix) – Season 2

As Netflix has been doing more often recently, this newest season following the turbulent friendship of Kate and Tully will be released in two parts, with part 1 coming out this week.

Riches (December 2, Amazon) – Season 1

When successful businessman Stephen Richards suddenly passes away, his children (the two he is raising and his estranged daughter) fight over his company.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules (December 2, Disney+) – Film

When Greg’s parents leave Rodrick in charge, Greg is ready for relentless teasing and bullying, but their time alone might change their relationship for the better.

While I only vaguely remember Willow from my childhood, the trailer looks like the sequel will be an exciting ride. It’s safe to say that Disney+ has really invested in this series, let’s hope it pays off.
