New and Returning Series and Movies This Week: November 13 – November 19, 2022
This week, we get a chance to return to some old favorites with Leverage: Redemption, The Santa Clauses, and Disenchanted.
Leverage: Redemption (November 13, FreeVee) – Season 2
Our favorite reformed criminals return for another round of helping the innocent when Sophie is tested by the return of an old friend. Sadly, Hardison (Aldis Hodge) will still only be a recurring character on the series this season, but hopefully his foster sister Breana can fill his shoes.
The Santa Clauses (November 16, Disney+) – Season 1
Apparently not even being Santa Claus will make you immortal. Approaching his 65th birthday, Scott Calvin realizes it is time to find his Santa replacement.
Dead to Me (November 17, Netflix) – Season 3
In the third and final season of this series (which was delayed due to the pandemic and Christina Applegate’s MS diagnosis) Jen must deal with the consequences of her not-quite-self-defense murder
Dragons: The Nine Realms (November 17, Hulu/Peacock) – Season 4
Our young dragon riders continue trying to keep the dragons a secret and search for Thunder’s family. This season they find an ice realm where they discover new dragons and more secrets. Perhaps most exciting of all is the tease of a Night Light (likely descended from Toothless and the Light Fury from the last movie, much like Thunder himself.)
The Sex Lives of College Girls (November 17, HBO Max) – Season 2
Four young women with seemingly nothing in common are forced to be college roommates their freshman year. Despite initial resistance, the four form a close friendship that helps them manage the challenges that their college experience throws at them. Now the roommates return from Thanksgiving break to tackle the Winter Session.
Fleishman is in Trouble (November 17, Hulu) – Season 1
Based on the novel by the same name by Taffy Brodesser-Akner, divorced forty-something-year-old Toby Fleishmann is juggling dating (through apps), taking care of his kids, and a promotion at work when his ex-wife goes missing. He must confront the truth of his failed marriage to try to discover what happened to her.
Slumberland (November 18, Netflix) – Film
After Nemo’s father passes away, she is sent to live with her uncle, who struggles to connect with her. Using a map of Slumberland (the world of dreams), Nemo seeks the wishing pearls to wish for her father to come back to life. On her journey is self-declared outlaw Flip (Jason Mamoa) who used to travel through dreams with her father.
Disenchanted (November 18, Disney+) – Film
Ten years after Enchanted, Robert, Giselle, and Morgan move to the suburb of Monroeville in hopes of a rediscovering the magic that she is missing. But Monroeville is not the fantasy she hoped for, filled with new rules and a queen-bee who is anything but welcoming. When she turns to the magic of Andalasia to get the happily ever after she always dreamed of, she accidentally puts her family and everyone at risk.
While I’m excited for a lot of the shows on this list, how can I not be most excited for Disenchanted? Especially when this time around Idina Menzel will actually be singing!
