New and Returning Series and Specials This Week: October 23 – October 29, 2022

The last full week of October has an array of new options, from horror to children’s series to a new reality competition:

Guillermo del Toro’s Cabinet of Curiosities (October 25, Netflix) – Season 1

A new horror anthology coming out as part of the Netflix and Chills Halloween Event.

The Mysterious Benedict Society (October 26, Disney+) – Season 2

Mr. Benedict sends our four orphans on yet another mission to save the world from his nefarious twin brother Dr. L.D. Curtain.

Tales of the Jedi (October 26, Disney+) – Season 1

This animated anthology series set before the time of the original Star Wars trilogy. Half will focus on Count Dooku while the other half will focus on Ahsoka Tano.

Daniel Spellbound (October 27, Netflix) – Season 1

This animated series is set in modern-day New York City, where magic is real but hidden and Daniel Spellbound makes his living by tracking down magical artifacts. One such artifact lands him in trouble and leaves the fate of the world in the balance.

Star Trek: Prodigy (October 27, Paramount+) – Season 1.5

The Protostar‘s crew of kids were headed to Starfleet, only to find themselves on the run again and pursued by Admiral Janeway herself.

Wendell & Wild (October 28, Netflix) – Season 1

Key and Peele reunite to play demon brothers who trick a human into summoning them to the land of the living.

The Devil’s Hour (October 28, Prime Video) – Season 1

Lucy wakes up from nightmarish visions at 3:33am every night. Her nightmares lead her into a manhunt for a serial killer.

Drink Masters (October 28, Netflix) – Season 1

Twelve mixologists compete for the title of Ultimate Drink Master.

For a kid-targeted show, the first half of Star Trek: Prodigy was incredibly engaging, for adult fans and children alike. As a long-time fan of Star Trek: Voyager I’m looking forward to seeing Janeway herself (and not just her hologram) enter the story.
