What to Look Forward to On Streaming This Week (September 18 -September 24, 2022)

There’s some great diversity in the new series and movies coming out this week, from reality competition to a comedy series to a biopic and beyond.

Best in Dough (September 19, Hulu) – Season 1 Premiere

Hosted by Wells Adam with head judge, Chef Daniele Uditi of Pizzana, the newest cooking competition, which delves into the world of pizza.

Reboot (September 20, Hulu) – Season 1 Premiere

An all-star cast that includes Keegan-Michael Key, Judy Greer, Rachel Bloom, and other fan favorites, is about a network rebooting a fictitious TV series, forcing its dysfunctional cast back together after many years. The show will focus on the behind-the-scenes drama at the TV studio, including the out of touch series creator and the progressive young writer.

Andor (September 21, Disney+) – Season 1 Premiere

The newer Star Wars movies have had their share of struggles, but Rogue One stands out as general well-received and well-loved. Which is great news for the newest Star Wars TV series (which have been better received than the movies in general anyway). Andor takes an even deeper look into the rebellion leading up to the first Star Wars movie (Episode IV – A New Hope), set before Rogue One. The series follows the thief Cassian Andor and others during the formation of the Rebel Alliance. Planned to run for two seasons, the series will cover the five years prior to the events of Rogue One.

On the Come Up (September 23, Paramount+) – Movie

A young girl tries to make it as a rapper to honor her father’s legacy, which was cut short by gang violence. It is also a path to help her family out of poverty. But she must struggle between her authentic self and the persona that the industry wants her to adopt.

Blonde (September 23, Netflix) – Movie

The latest biopic to watch follows the rise and fall of actress Marilyn Monroe.

Normally I’d picked a new Star Wars series as the series I’m most excited for, but I have to pick Reboot this week. Not only because it has a top notch cast but also because it was created by Modern Family creator Steven Levitan. Also shows about the behind-the-scenes of the TV industry are fascinatingly meta. (Do you remember UnReal?)
