Children’s Series and Movies Coming in September 2022

Good news for parents, September has a number of excellent movies and children’s series for those times when you just want a moment of peace. We won’t judge you for sitting them in front of the television, especially not for these:

Ivy + Bean (September 2, Netflix) – Movie

Based on the children’s series of the same name, Ivy + Bean two girls who could not be more different (Bean is loud and wild while Ivy is more quiet and reserved) who develop an unlikely best friendship that leads on all sorts of imaginative adventures. Netflix is dropping three Ivy + Bean movies at once (which clock in at around an hour each), sure to delight parents who are looking for stories about the magic of friendship.

Pinnocchio (September 8, Disney+) – Season 1 Premiere

This well-known story comes to us in live-action in the same vein of other recent live-action remakes from Disney. When lonely woodcarver and toymaker Geppetto wishes on a star, the blue fairy (Cynthia Erivo) decides to make his wish come true – bringing his beloved puppet Pinnocchio to life. The Blue Fairy promises Pinnocchio the opportunity to become a real boy. As he tries to prove himself worthy, Pinnocchio makes many missteps along the way.

Cars on the Road (September 8, Disney+) – Season 1 Premiere

Lightning McQueen and Mater take to the highway for a cross-country road trip to go visit Mater’s sister.

Super/Natural (September 21, Disney+) – Season 1 Premiere

This new Natural Geographic series delves into the seemingly supernatural abilities of animals found in nature. The series is executive produced by James Cameron and narrated by Benedict Cumberbatch.

My Little Pony: Make Your Mark (September 26, Netflix) – Season 1 Premiere

Following May’s special, the series features a return to Equestria and a new adventure for friends Zipp, Sunny, Izzy, Pipp, and Hitch.

Dragon Rescue Riders: Heroes of the Sky (September 28, Peacock) – Season 4 Premiere

Raised by dragons since they were children, twins Dak and Leyla have a special bond with their flying friends. Together the siblings lead a team of five dragons on adventures to protect the dragons and humans around their adopted home of Huttsgalor.

Hocus Pocus 2 (September 30, Disney+) – Movie

The witches are back! Twenty-nine years after Max unwittingly little the Black Flame Candle, three high school students accidentally summon the Sanderson Sisters to modern day Salem. Together, they must figure out how to stop the sister from their usual mayhem. The original movie was known to cause more than a few nightmares, so be sure you know how well your child tolerates scarier stories.
